I recently purchased a ATARI game title (ACT OF WAR) It installed a program / service called uaservice7 with registry references to securom. HOW do I get rid of this???? NO uninstaller - Runs ALL the time, I cannot delete the registry entries even in safe mode??? It runs continously even when the game is NOT running. I have e-mailed ATARI & Securom - no reply - NO reply. I completely uninstalled the game and yet the service still runs. I deleted the exe file and yet it comes back. I tried to delete the registry references (In admin logon) and it will NOT delete (access denied) ?????

Thanks Star - Actually found a way to trick the software into thinking its there with a text file. not a total answer but it works. There was several comments (none good) on the ATARI forums - and a fix so that at least the service does not restart every time

Ok, I have had a few system "blue screen" crashes due to unknown driver conflicts that I have sent reports to ya'll on, and I think I may have just figured out what part of the problem is. I have a game called F.E.A.R. on my computer and it came with a wonderful little piriacy protection program called SecuRom (which is owned by Sony DADC) (and personally I think it's a piece of crap). I have had these crashes since the game was installed, but didn't realize there was anything to it cause the computer is crashing when I run another game called Silent Storm (this game did NOT come with the piece of crap piriacy protection program called SecuRom). I would say that in the last week or so I got a recent update from McAffee, and recently (within the last 3 days) I have attempted to play my Silent Storm game (I beat F.E.A.R. and so no longer play the game, but am awaiting the arival of the expansion pack soon to be released). However, when I click on the game icon for Silent Storm to start up, I get a nice little message from McAffee that it has found a "Generic RootKit.b" trojan and has deleated it for cleaning purposes. The name of this file is Fadpu16E.sys. After that message I get another message that states "Conflict with Disc Emulator Software detected. See www.securom.com/emulation for more details". Funny thing of it is though is that I am not running an emulation program or Alchol 120 or any of that other bull crap. So, after a little research and playing around with the computer, I figure out that the SecuRom program that came with F.E.A.R. is checking EVERY game CD to see if it a pirated disc (I have NO pirated disc any where in my apartment at all!!!). If I turn off McAffee I can play my game without any problems unless of course I get that wonderful "blue screen" about the unknown device driver (and if you look at that blue screen carefully you'll see that down at the bottem it mentions a file named (hold on to your pink panties) Fabpu16E.sys (the shock and horror that must be coming to you. lol). So, being the old school programmer that I am, I can figure out that the piece of crap piriacy program called SecuRom has a file (program) that creates Fabpu16E.sys to verify that the game you are about to play is on it's original CD. Without this file the piriacy program defaults to the conclusion that the CD is not the original one for the game and thus halts loading of the game. I can understand that the dumbasses that made this program want to protect their game. However, the program is trying to protect ALL games, if ALL games were written with this piriacy program there probably wouldn't be a problem. However, Sony (owners of SecuRom) does not own ALL of the software companies out on the market (aren't you just jumping for joy?). So their security program with the ego that it has, is not only messing up other games that it is not even written for, it's even messing up Windows (I would suggest you sue the dog crap out of them). I have attempted to get what help I could from some of the forums about removing the SecuRom program and have done so. However, the problem still persist, which tells me that they have other files on MY computer that are not easily found and that are still doing the same SHIT. I'm pissed, and you should be as well. I want the program off of my computer, I want to play my games without having to turn my virus protection programs off, and I want my windows to stop crashing.

This is an email that I've sent to Microsoft. I have NO services running that say SecuRom or uaservice7, I have NO files that can be located in any hidden or system folders that say SecuRom or uaservice7, and I have NO words, keys, values, data, or folders in my Registry that say SecuRom or uaservice7, and the Piece of SHIT is still running. (go bunny. lol)

That is a false alarm, and that file is needed for the crappy protction program to work. So thats why theres a conflict.

That shouldnt be happening as here is what the site states about protecting other games.

    10. Can more than one application be protected with SecuROM™?

Yes. There is no limit to the number of applications that can be protected on a single SecuROM™- protected disc. If this is a desired option, please contact support@SecuROM.com for details on how to best encrypt multiple titles.

How about uninstaling the games, which should uninstal that crap prog as well. Then reinstall the games that didnt come with SecureROM, and then tryin to reinstall FEAR.

Here attach a memory debug report on the BSOD, how to do that can be found here.

Well, FEAR was the last game that I installed, so I don't think uninstalling my other games and then reinstalling them (with FEAR being the last game) would do any good, as that would pretty much be the same order inwhich the games were installed to begin with (again FEAR was the last game installed). In addition, that would just reinstall SecuRom; while it's not something that I would suggest for people to do, though it wouldn't make any difference as SecuRom seems to be running just fine even though I deleted EVERY file that said SecuRom or Uaservice7 (which actually I never had a Uaservice7 file nor did I have any services to begin with that said SecuRom or Uaservice7). Added to that, I do NOT feel the need to accomidate my anti-virus software, operating system, or other games to the F'd up SecuRom program. It's a glorified virus program and the company should have their socks sued off. I'm not too concerned with the crash; seeing as how if SecuRom was not on my computer then I wouldn't have had the crash to begin with (the blue screen did mention a file name and that file name was the one that SecuRom created). If SecuRom's crappy program is having a conflict with my drivers then they can go suck an egg (Once again I am NOT accomidating MY computer (or drivers) for THEIR suck ass program). I would like to know how to identify which file created the Fadpu16E.sys; cause that would help me in deleting their program (and making me a happy camper again. :) ).
