How do I burn this to a DVD. I've got the install file downloaded to my PC, what is the next step for creating a bootable DVD? Don't want to mess up the PC so I thought I'd ask first. :wave:wave

    Greetings, brandypeppy...

This is quoted from the MG download page: "This will create an ISO image which you can use to create a bootable CD with your favorite CD burning software."

So, you'll have to use an image burning software (Roxio, et al) to create the boot disk...

Ok, I've got Roxio, and I've got the install program downloaded to my PC, and I've got a blank DVD in the machine, next step?? :confused:confused

I'm just leary because of the nature of this program, probably unnecessarily so. :wave

Hey Brandy I use Infra recorder to burn .ISO's . Image burn has been recommended on MG. Launch the burning software. You get an option to burn .ISO/Image- Navigate to the .ISO and burn.

    Cheers..

As far as Roxio is concerned, I've got Creator DE, so my procedure would be Start, Programs, Roxio Creator DE, Projects, Copy, Create Image...you then just follow the prompts...

Don't worry: it's painless and safe...

So do I burn that downloaded install file to the DVD?? I still needs to be extracted to make it bootable, right?:confused:confused

I've got Roxio open, I've got the install file in my downloads, 261,661 KB, I've got a blank DVD in the drive. What next??:confused:wave

I hate to belabor this, but I'm getting mixed instructions of sorts, it seems.:)

The UBCD file I downloaded from a MG link is listed as an Application file, UBCD4WinV350.exe.

I should burn this to the DVD? And it will boot a machine? Without anything extracted, (I declined the "run" option after saving to my downloads)?:confused:confused

If the downloaded file is an .exe, you may have to extract it - if it already has an '.iso' extension, it's ready to burn...

If its a stand alone bootable .ISO don't extract. Have not used UBCD will have to read up. For example Active Kill disk need to be extracted cause it's got a readme file if burnt won't boot!! Akkk.. Lost a disk or two LOL

Run the EXE file, and it will prompt you for the location[folder] where it will store the extracted ISO image file.
They run your DVD creator program and use it to 'burn image[ISO]' to DVD.

:confusedOkay, I click on the executable, yada, yada. It asks where to put the program, I choose E, it says "the drive or UNC you select does not exist...", yet in windows explorer, I can open the E:, where the properties show 0 bytes used of 702 M bytes available!

At what point do I used Roxio in this process?:confused

    This SHOULD be easy!:cry:confused:wave

    brandypeppy,

I just downloaded the file so I could answer your questions. Best that I could tell you will have to download it to your main drive(needs lots of room) and when finished, it will start the program to make the ISO. It will ask for the source of Windows installation files ( it scanned my hard drive and didn't find them ) so having your Windows CD handy is necessary. You would enter the path of the ROM device as the source. Then it integrates the files from UBC4Win with the installation files off the CD and makes the ISO which you then burn. Hope this helps! :)

Reason for suggesting your main drive is that this program is 619 megs. unpacked and will have to integrate the files included along with the Windows intallation files from the CD during the ISO creation process, so I'm not sure that 702 megs. would be enough.
