Let us know what you think of the upgrade experience.

Issues with grub (hold shift at boot is said to be solution) and ongoing issues with NVIDIA force me to wait. ;)

I've read that there are keyboard recognition issues when running under a VM.

I am running Debian 5 (lenny) on my VM at the moment and it works great,
The only thing i am unhappy about is that if i leave it for more than 20 min it needs the password to bring the screen back even though the programs keep running.

I'm sure there's an option there in the admin panel. Most likely under 'Power Options'. or similar. Sorry, I'm not running *nix ATM.

Your right Augie, i have them both set at never but the screen still closes.

I decided to try it and see if it can get work any better than the old system but it is just the same, it has now been 48 hours "trying to get work"

Well, my screen shuts down too but not because of the OS, it's built in timer and doesn't affect anything on the PC. Hitting 'any key' works just fine.:-D You have 'performance ' enabled right?

I may have missed that Augie.
I just had a look around and did not find it, can you point me in the right direction.??

I've got 10.04 running in VirtualBox VMs on a Dell desktop and an Acer netbook, with no keyboard issues on either one. In fact, I haven't experienced any noteable issues with either 10.04 VM, but that could just be because I haven't pushed the envelope far enough yet?!

I can definitely dispute the keyboard recognition rumor in VirtualBox VM though!

It's not exactly a big problem, here's a few who've had the issue plus a possible solution. USB issue only.

Try System> Preferences > Power Management

Also Screen Saver which points to Power Management....

So far the upgrade has not been a problem at all. Nothing I can't live with. Desktop shuts down and you have to put in your password to unlock it. Also when you first boot your have to put in your password to continue. I love this security measure. Good feature.

I did a clean install on a Dell Laptop (it's at home so I don't have the model nor the specs). 64-bit and it runs like a champ except for one pesky issue: the laptop screen has a garbled blur that flashes on the lower half of the screen from time to time. I've tried every fix/workaround I can find in the Ubuntu forums and I have been able to reduce the frequency of flashes. Anyone successfully eliminate the problem with it? I'll try to post the specs of the laptop soon. Other than that annoying problem everything is fine.
