Ubuntu and AOL Cable Broadband

When I'm up at college, Ubuntu works no problem, I can connect through Ethernet or wireless. Right now I'm home and sadly my folks to use AOL Cable Broadband (not Dial-Up, not DSL, Cable Modem and Linksys Router+Wireless). I can't convince them to switch to RoadRunner ($40 v. $20 per month) so unless AOL goes bankrupt or stops Broadband service I'm stuck with this situation.

AOL works fine when I boot Windows XP... I have to use their AOL Dialer software (still don't know for what technical reasons a Dialer is necessary and what it does) to connect but it works both Ethernet and Wireless fine.

So...first question, because I just want to know: Can or can't I connect through AOL Cable Broadband using Ubuntu? If I can, what's the way?

I've done a lot of research on Google, visited "Linux Cable" websites, even e-mailed people who've posted similar posts-- no luck. So I'm going to scream with joy if somebody can help me figure this one out. :D

If the AOL modem is a simple Ethernet modem then yes you should have no problems.

But knowing AOL it probably isn't. It's worth a try though!
