I want to completely remove windows 8 and replace it with the latest version of Linux Ubuntu, can anyone give me a step by step? I recently had some security issues and figure Ubuntu can solve them.

Also while i'm at it I need to protect my cell phone any suggestions.

As a "Noobie", I wouldn't recommend you COMPLETELY remove Windows 8 until you verify/confirm that you are satisfied with your substitute OS. Additionally, you paid for a Windows 8 license, you might as well retain the option. Finally, most tutorials demonstrate a dual-boot installation, where Ubuntu is installed ALONGSIDE Windows 8, rather than IN PLACE OF, thereby allowing the user the option to choose OS at boot. In the future, after you've confirmed Ubuntu is everything you want it to be, you can wipe out the Windows partition and enlarge the Ubuntu partition to take that disk area, thereby achieving the effect of full initial replacement. ALWAYS leave a bridge to return to where you were.

With that said, I would recommend dual-booting for a noobie. Here's a video tutorial:

This is a year old, but the concepts still apply. If you have a Windows 8 machine, I would also recommend the 64-bit version of Ubuntu. Ubuntu 13.04 is the most recent, with Ubuntu 13.10 scheduled to arrive in the next 30 days or so, but I would recommend the Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (long term support) version, as it will be supported for FIVE (5) years, whereas the other versions will only be supported for 9 months. Download the 64-bit version of Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS, as the "point release" of .3 is critical to install on UEFI systems associated with Windows 8. Then follow the video tutorial.

With respect to cell phones, do you have Apple or Android? If Android, I would recommend installing Lookout Security or Avast. I've tried both and never experienced any issues with either program, although I prefer Lookout for a mobile device. I would assume Apple has something similar, but someone familiar with iPhones will have to offer advice on that.

    Good luck!

Hedon has given you some really sound advice but, if you do have any old box lying around unused I would suggest you start by installing Ubuntu on that rather than in dual boot with Windows, as disentangling Linux and Windows later on can cause problems for the less experienced. You really do have to use Linux as your primary system for a while to judge whether it really is for you, but as it runs satisfactorily on almost anything it's easy enough to find out.

Just to underline the advice you have been given, on no account remove Win 8 yet, or for quite some time. It's very expensive to get it back if you later regret your decision.
