ok guys, i need to know if i can hook up a udma100 laptop hard drive to a pc with some kind of funky cable

This is so i can build it from an image provided by the manufacturer, long story short, the hard drive no longer boots, it has my friends degree course on and altho i can get to recovery console via 6 floppy disks i cannot get it to copy the work off (ACCESS DENIED) so i need to be able to connect it to a working cd drive, rebuild the programs partition and recover her documents.

The laptop does not have a working cd drive and the usb drivers i have in 98se style boot up disk wont recognise my usb cd drive so i figure i need to get the hard drive connected to something else!

im from the uk so any links to products would be great if they are uk based sites =)

You have to either get a enclosure case that allows you to use the drive, or the 2.5" to IDE adapter. The enclosure case works better from what most have said.
