Has anyone tried to create a boot disk using the download file from ulitimate boot disk? I tried using it and I keep getting the message when trying to use a 3 1/2" floppy that 590k is required and only 430k is available. Is there different kind of floppy I should be using other than the standard one.

Don't mean to impose a stupid question here, but...

    1. Is the floppy formatted/empty...nothing on it that might need to be deleted??

    2. Is the floppy a 1.44mb floppy?? It should say somewhere on the disk.

Have you tried a different disk?? I have actually bought a pack of disk and had to throw away half of them because they were corrupt!!

Also...In the BIOS...make sure the floppy drive is set to 3.5 floppy, and not the old style 5.25 drive.

Have not tried a brand new pre formated floppy. Never had the 5.25 drive, so that should not be problem. Are older disks, say 2 to 3 years ago any different than the ones that are available now?

Actually, 3.5" 1.44 disks that are 10 years old would still work.

Anyway, I tried running it. I can say the initial installer is horrible. But, it does say that it uncompress the files to a directory callec c:\ubd1.

I quit the installer, then ran the program called f98.exe, I inserted a disk and it does give me the error that the floppy is full. I knew this earlier, I just wanted to check if it pre formats. So, I erase the disk, ran the program again, and it installed perfectly.
