    Hi Guys,

Sorry to bother you all again, I seem to be asking a lot of questions, its just that I have been out of the PC game for a fair few years now due to being in hospital a hell of a lot very ill, but my parents brought me a laptop for my birthday earlier in the year, so I could do what I wanted, when I wanted, where ever I wanted, and get back into the computer world as a hobby, especially when I am bed ridden for months at a time in hospital, with only badly painted walls to gawk at 24/7. Well here is the system I got and its specifications:

I have download and installed literally heaps of diffirent system diagnostic and information applications like Sisoftware Sandra, Belarc Advisor, System Pro, ASCP6, etc and they are very informative, and Sisoftware Sandra in particular gives me ballon tips and suggestions about my system, like trying to set the graphics memory to a higher consumption, disabling startup applications on windows boot, etc However, for the life of me, I cannot find any setting within my laptop to "tweak" virtually anything, when I hit F2 on my laptop on POST, I get into the BIOS, but there is virtually nothing there to customise, there is no option for changing the video memory, or anything to tweak to increase overall system performance, which is very unusual because Asus usually include a lot of BIOS options to tweak, so is there anyone out there that knows what else can be done to tweak my systems hardware?

Another note that Sandra had, was that the CPU isn't running at its suggested speed, apparently the processor slows down, etc and it recommends I change it to a locked speed, however, I have no idea how to do it, or where to do it from, their is nothing in the BIOS for the CPU, I am using the very latest BIOS from Asus website for my model machine, and within Windows I have gone through manually to select the "High Performance" system Profile, then I went into the Advanced settings and made sure each and every option that was changeable was set to Best Performance, 100%, etc

But my system throttles itself at times, and according to Sandra, its a windows setting, but I cannot find it, with the profile set to High Performance and the Advanced Power Settings changed to the maximum level for each option, I thought this would make sure the CPU didn't drop from 2.5GHz randomly for absolutely no reason, especially when I am simply just surfing the web, or playing a divx movie, or playing a simply game of Zuma, etc, its definitely not a heat issue, throttling it, because the sensors report back at nice levels, so I am a little bit mystified, and I would also like to change the graphic memory size to something more set in concrete, but using the Intel software, there is no option...

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I am open to trying anything and everything to set my system up to perform at its upmost best.

    Cheers,

    David

I know almost nothing about it, but Win 7 has something called "God mode" which lets you make all sorts of tweaks to the OS. Perhaps Win 8 has something similar? You might look into that.

HI again, To be honest alot of these laptops don't let you change the video memory in fact they have barely anything you can tweak in the bios'. There are hacked bios' out there that let you tweak, but would not touch them myself. As far as your processor speed a lot have them run low to have less heat and they will go up when needed, that's a good thing for most for less heat and processor last longer. As for the start up programs I personally use ccleaner and use the tools section and click on start up button to see what starts up with system and turn off ones I don't need there, I for safety reasons only shut off ones that are update programs for like adobe, java, and such third party software. I would not shut off anything that says Microsoft or Asus.Google is your friend as I always say you can look up every process in the start up and find out what it does
