Ultmate Games PC!

Hi all, i need your collective knowledge here. I have a works bonus burning a hole in my pocket, and fancy putting together a shit hot PC. Unfortunately i a bit lost about the PC world these days - what is quicker and slower (CPU's, RAM, Motherboards, Hard Drives, etc) . I also see that SLI has made a comeback in the GFX world, what cards support this, and is it really worth it. So suggestions with full spec lsts would be appreciated.

OKay, so far i have decided on an Athlon FX 55 CPU (£550), twin MSI 6800Ultra 256mb GFX cards in SLI mode(£700), Gigabyte GA-K8N Ultra SLI nF4 Ultra(£100). This is where i get a bit lost...which memory should i go for? Presumably Corsair XMS is still the best stuff, if so, what 'type' and 'speed' do i need to match the mobo?

 

Found what i need.... Corsair TWINX1024-3200C2PT. Also, I'm a bit puzzled about SATA Had drives...do i need two of them or is one OK?

 

it probably won't make any difference if you got one 1GB module or 2 x 512MB modules anymore... but a couple of years ago that would have made a drastic difference so why not go with the 2 just to be on the safe side...

 

btw I must say your name is quite funny
you probably know about it already but if you swap the first letters from cupid and stunt that makes kind of a funny combination

Try that link, not sure if you could buy the parts and build it yourself for cheaper but its definetely an ultimate gaming pc!

 

The name is meant to be a bit of a piss take...it comes form a character by a now dead comedian called Kenny Everett who i loved when i was a kid. CupidStunt was a basically a piss take of Sue Ellen and all those of Dallas and The Colbys etc(shows my age!)
