    The moment I uninstalled my previous anti-virus "Avast" and installed "AVG 8.0" along with "Registry Booster" my computer automatically shut-down. After it restarted, it kept trying to install an update for Sonic except a message popped-up saying something similar to "um.msi was missing" and automatically shutdown. After a couple of restarts, the moment I log-on, it automatically shuts down!

    In order to find out which program is causing the problem, boot into safe mode and uninstall AVG 8 (you did not mention which product you installed) and Registry Booster. Then install only one product and see if the computer behaves or acts up.
    It is never a good idea to install more than one product of this type (registry cleaner, av, anti-malware, rootkit detector, firewall, anti-trojan) at a time so you can e sur that the program works ok with your existing software.
