    Hi,

I am running a Dell N5010 laptop with Windows 7, Service Pack 1, 64 bit. Though I have been noticing that my computer has been running a little slower over time, I was not having any noticeable issues until June 17th when my Uncle was trying to upload some videos from his iPhone to my laptop. At that point, my computer got hung up attempting to install the driver to read his phone so I restarted my computer and was unable to log in to my user account after that. When I would attempt to log in to my user account it would take at least 10 minutes attempting to sign on before I would receive the error message "The User Profile Service service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded." I was able to access my administrator account and run antiviral/malware scans but nothing came up. I read and followed the directions from the following microsoft website https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...rofile-service-failed-the-logon-error-message to edit my registry to correct the error message. Unfortunately, changing my registry didn't correct the problem so I decided to start running the scans to start the process in case there was malware etc.

After completing the steps to the Read and Run Me First Malware Guide, I was given a couple of options before being told that the problem is not malware related. When I created another user account to transfer my files etc I received the same error message "The User Profile Service service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded" that I did when I would try to login to my old one. I have also noticed that my google chrome browser has been acting much slower than before I started the malware scans.

I'm not sure if the problem is hardware/memory/software/etc and was wondering if there were other steps you can recommend? At this point I am concerned about continuing to solely use my administrator account because of the vulnerability to malware, and if I am unable to access or create a user account then something is preventing that and I have no idea what to do next to correct the problem.

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Open Services and check whether the User Profile Service is running.
If not, start the service and ensure the Startup Type is set to Automatic.
If it is running, Restart the service.

    Hi baklogic and Eldon,

Thank you so much for the suggestions, I really appreciate it! I was able to run the SFC utility, but it did not seem to find anything that needed to be repaired.

Eldon, when I opened Services, I was able to verify that the User Profile Service was running and was set to automatic, but received 2 different error messages when I tried to restart the service. The first error message was "Error 1051 Stop Control Has Been Sent to a Service that Other Running Services are Dependent on". When I stopped the dependent service I then received the error message "Error 1061 The Service Cannot Accept Control Messages at this Time". I'm not sure what to do from here, but any other suggestions you might have for me to try would be appreciated.

Thank you again for your help!

    Hi Eldon,

Thank you for the suggestion! I followed the instructions for the Tweaking.com - Windows Repair program and ran the Common Repairs twice, and when that did not work I ran the All Repairs 3 separate times just to make sure, but still no luck accessing my user account.

Any other steps/ideas you might have for me to try would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you again for your help!

Do you have the Windows 7 SP1 disk?

    Hi Eldon,

No I do not have the disk, my laptop came pre-loaded. Could I even try a system restore point from before the problem occurred? I was waiting to do so since I only have two restore points that are from right before I started having a problem accessing my user account and didn't want to waste one in case it didn't work or if I was having a problem with malware.

Let's first check the disk for errors.
Right-click C drive, click Properties > Tools > Check now...
Check both boxes and click Start.
When the dialogue box appears, click Schedule disk check.
    Check Disk.jpg
    You computer will restart.
Wait for the scan to complete.

    Hi Eldon,

Thank you so much for your help! I ran the disk check on my computer and after it ran and "replaced bad clusters" in my user account file, I was able to login to my user account. I made sure to back up all of my information and restarted my computer and was still able to log back in to my user account with no problem.

Thank you again for all of your help!
