My laptop is unable to connect to the internet at the moment. I have tried several different connections, and they are all stuck
with a 169.*** IP. But there is nothing wrong with the connections themselves, as they work just fine with another computer. So the problem is with my laptop.

My laptop's OS is Vista, and there is Avira, Comodo Firewall and Windows Defence in it as well. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks.

Thank you for your reply. My apology, it is Windows Defender :-o.

I believe I am using Comodo Firewall as that is the package I downloaded, not the full security suite. I have uninstalled Avira, but the problem is still there. Could it be a clash between Windows Defender and Comodo Firewall?

The best way to find out is to remove Comodo's firewall too.

explain what you mean by this.
    Did you try ipconfig /release
    followed by ipconfig /renew ?

Did you power cycle the router and modem?

Thanks to your replies. It was Comodo Firewall. I had to uninstall it. Such a pity, as I quite liked it. :(

Now I am using Avast! Free Antivirus, Windows Defender and Windows Firewall. Would this be a good combination?
