Unable to create Direct 3d Device

Hi guys,

i'm trying to install the onimush 3 demo but i get an error saying "unable to create Direct3d device". it wont install!

i have the latest drivers for my video card gforce5200fx and directx 9c

please help!

Did alot of googling and I cant find a solid answer to this problem (or a solution even). Seems it occurs with w98/wME/w2000 alot, and video cards raging from very old to some rather new ones, and on both ATI and Nvidia. Try properly reinstalling drivers? (ie uninstall,reboot,reinstall newest from nvidia.com, and reboot again)

 

FX series DOES support dx9.0, I cant believe your still hanging out here giving incorrect info. FX series SUCKS at using dx9.0, but it DOES support it.

 

The point is, a card not supporting dx 9.0c is not going to use the extra features it doesn't support in dx 9.0c, but so long as the poster has the latest drivers, it will use directx fine. So the issue as to whether it supports 9 or 9c is a moot point. Microsoft designed directx to be have backwards compatible features.

The bickering isn't helping anyone.

IME, the error is either due to a broken video driver, or broken DirectX, usually.

Does it happen in other games?

Have you gone through the diagnostic tests using dxdiag?

@ Omegamerc & rev1...to add to what Adrynalyne said please keep in mind that not only does the childish bickering not help, but it reflects poorly on both of you and MG as a whole. Derogatory comments such as 'I cant believe your still hanging out here giving incorrect info' and 'i cant believe you still reply to what i write go be annoying elsewhere' are totally uncalled for and completely unacceptable. You two can either agree to disagree and knock off the testosterone laced one-up-man-ship and take your disagreements to PM's/email or you can leave..your choice (for now) otherwise, keep the garbage out of the forums or you will both disappear. Enough is enough.

JOE21 - bottom line, I think even if you do get the game working it would be unplayable with your card. Great game as well, plays great on a GF6200.
GL in getting it working though.
