I'm currently in the process of trying to remove some malware from my laptop. I cannot access Internet Explorer so can't download any programs to help. I have bought a 4GB Flash Drive so that a few useful programs can be transferred from the desktop PC. The only problem is that the laptop cannot detect my flash drive so I'm not sure what to do. The flash drive works perfectly on the PC but not on the laptop.

The laptop is a Dell Latitiude D400 and the operating system is Windows XP Home with SP3 installed.

    Can anyone help? :-o

Reboot pressing F8 into advanced user mode and try, safe mode with networking, and then see if you can download malwarebytes and run that, at least it would be a start, and then you may be able to move on from there !

Are there any yellow flags in your device manager? Esp. by USB devices? You may have a corrupt driver. Try disabling the USB devices, reboot, and reenable. Works just enough times to give it a try.
Else you will have to get the driver from. Go there and enter your service number and you'll get a menu of all drivers for your machine.
But you'll need a way to get them on you box. Maybe safe mode with networking will work. Or you can burn the driver to a CD and install it from there.:wave
