Unable To Download Upgrades

I am using Windows 10, but when I try to upgrade my programs I receive an error message I don't have permission to contact the administrator. I am the administrator but I am not recognized. How can I stop this from happening please? The one thing I noticed under my files is my downloads are going to a downloads file in Dropbox. Drop keeps telling me I have to many files in it but I don't know of any files in the dropbox program. Please advise me.
