Unable to execute file

    This may have been addressed before, but often after downloading a program to the desktop ( in Vista ) I get an "Unable to execute file in the temporary directory. Setup aborted."

    I have unblocked it in properties. And if it is an updated program download, the original program is not running.

    Any ideas?

    Offhand options for this, not seen it before myself, but possibles,


    IIRC you have Comodo installed? if so disable it and try.

    Disable UAC to test, if disabled, re-enable to test.

    Don't download to desktop, download to a created folder (dont use RUN when downloading use SAVE, then run the file from the download folder) and does this route work?

    "MAY" also be an issue with your flakey internet connection and some downloads are corrupt.

    Check your timezone and time is syncronizing ok?

    Time for Comodo to go bye bye. Now what did you suggest as a replacement, as PCTools screws up Live Messenger?

    LOL....tell me about it! This was not the first time this happened. Comodo is now uninstalled. Previous times, programs would eventually install after downloading 3 or 4 times. But it was always the same error message.
