Unable to flash BIOS on old Thinkpad 770ED

I have a IBM Thinkpad 770ED and I need to update the BIOS for XP support. It has no floppy drive but I was able to make the bootable floppy on another system. Now I have all of the files from the bootable floppy but I can't find a way to get this working off of a CD. I have tried a whole bunch of stuff and every search on google just confuses me. I tried Bart's clean boot cd for flashing a BIOS but it gets stuck at "ROOT FAT KERNEL GO!". I also tried a DOS 6.22 boot cd to no avail. Could anyone tell me how to get this working? Or maybe what the problem is?

What file did you use to make the boot floppy? Was it spsdid38.exe? From Lenovo.

I ask because I can't seem to get that program to run. I keep getting "not a valid win32 application". Did you have any problem running the file?

I'd like to see what files are on the floppy you created. I don't want to give you confusing advice on building a CD unless I think the files on your floppy will work on a CD format.

 

I ended up getting it figured out.

First I made an image of the bootable floppy using a computer with a floppy drive and the dd.exe file off of the Bart's boot cd site.

Then I used imgburn to build a bootable cd image using the floppy image as the boot image source.

Burned that and I was on my way.

Not that important but can I ask if the file I referenced in my first post was your BIOS update? I can't figure out why I couldn't get it to run to make the floppy. :confused
