Unable To Install Driver

I have bought a usb wifi dongle and having an issue setting it up.
When i run the driver set up i get a message as attached.
It mentions Vista but i am running Windows 7 of which i was told it is compatible also.
When i right click in compatibilty mode to hopefully change to Win 7 etc i see Vista is selected and a tick applied But its grey and unable for me to change.

Do you have any advice please.

 

Running as admin? Try extracting the setup and installing the drive through windows. Since the setup will not run you could try uniextractor or sometimes 7-zip works.

 

Run as admin makes no difference.
The problem is the error message that pops up mentions Vista,i am using Windows 7

Also why is the compatibility part greyed out so i cant make a selection ?
You mention try extracting the set up,the files are on a usb stick,which i have put into a folder on the notebook.
When i double click on the driver set up file i then see the message as shown above.

 

You have to change the set up exe file properties to enable compatibility which means right clicking the set up file FIRST before even running it. Right click the set up exe files > Properties > Compatibility > Compatability Mode > Choose the OS and put a tick in the box > 'apply' > 'OK.

 

That is what i have tried to do.
Following your instructions when i am in the setup properties box i select the compatibility tab "now stop" looking at compatibilty mode i see a tick in Run the program in compatibility for Windows Vista,the tick & Windows Vista is greyed out with no way to select say win 95 win 98 xp etc etc

Amazon is about 1000 times better than ebay by a very long mark. Amazon keeps a much firmer regulation of its market place sellers than eBay.
If you cant get that device to work get a refund.

I have purchased the advised Amazon item.

 

Sorry when I said running as Admin I meant in an Admin account, not "Run As..", but Admin on the PC might give you the option(s) that are greyed out. Also I didn't tell you to run the setup after the extraction, after it was extracted you go in Windows, click the unknown device, update driver and go to the extracted files.... for future reference.

 

I have done / followed these instructions but no joy.
I know where the driver is etc but i am unable to change the way the compatibilty runs,its greyed out on Vista.
The device is not shown as unknown,ive now ordered the amazon item

 

Well my nice Amazon item has arrived.
But it is exactly the same setup as the item i have,in respect of its installation.

It pops up the same message which refers to Vista.
