Unable to name dial up connection

I am running Windows 2000. When I try to make a dial-up connection, I am unable to do so because of the following: "Internet Connection Wizard: 'connection name' is not a valid name. The entry name must contain at least one character that is not a space and cannot begin with a period. Choose a different name." Of course, no name will work. This is not an upgrade, this is a fresh install and I really do not wish to reinstall Windows if I can get out of it because it handling a db that cannot be off line very long.

Number of different solutions can be seen there. I'd suggest reinstalling SP4 first (and then, of course, going to Windows Update and installing any missing patches).
