Unable to Open Links

I'm not sure how this happened, but about a week ago all of a sudden I couldn't open any links in any of my emails I received (yahoo). I would click the link but nothing would happen. I was able to right click on the link and select open in a new window but now I can't even do that. I get the same result. In order for me to access a link (whether in email or a regular website) I have to click on explorer and open another window and then copy and paste the link in the new window. This is getting very frustrating. Could someone please help me fix this? I have Windows 2000 Professional with MS Explorer ver. 6 SP1. I would appreciate any suggestions.

 

Try this:

1. Quit all programs that are running.
2. Click Start, and then click Run.
3. Type regsvr32 urlmon.dll, and then click OK.
4. When you receive the "DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll succeeded" message, click OK.

If this does not resolve the problem, repeat steps 2 through 4 for each of the following files (in step 3, replace Urlmon.dll with each of the file names below):

• Shdocvw.dll
• Msjava.dll
• Actxprxy.dll
• Oleaut32.dll
• Mshtml.dll
• Browseui.dll
• Shell32.dll
