Unable to restore XP Home

    Shortly after reinstalling XP I made a series of restoration points during the process of adding updates and reinstalling applications.

    When I tried to restore to several of those points the sytem told me that it was unable to do so.

    I had to bite the bullet and start again, complete with another reformat. It then worked :confused

    What could have caused that?

    Could have been a number of scenarios to cause System Restore to not restore a restore point and the following may help you in an answer

    Some anti-virus applications can cause System Restore to not work properly.

    I have read that support article. I've not yet tried restoring while in safe mode, but will try that when I next want to restore.
