unable to shutdown

hello, every time i play a game when i decide to turn off my computer, i press start then press shut down and then the hour glass comes up. and it crashes. can anyone help to stop this please. thanks ukarmycadet

Shutdown problems can cover a myriad of things, hardware > software, do you get any error messages on screen, any errors reported around the shutdown time in Event Viewer

no errors at all just takes for ever/ dosent shut down at all when i click it. also the hardweare is brand new as it is a brand new pc,
and the only softweare i have on is my OS WINDOWS XP, AVG ANTI VIRUS, microsoft antispyweare, ccleaner, reg scrub, free ram pro <------ all off major geeks..and battlefield 2. thanks for your reply. ukarmycadet....
