Unable to uninstall Norton Anti virus 2004

Hello,

I am having problems with Norton 2004. It crashed itself and I have tried to reinstall it however each time I do so it says " live update" is still running and I should disable this before proceeding. I have tried to do so without success. Any suggestions how I stop this so I can reinstall the protection. Thanks

To uninstall Norton after a failed uninstall follow the direction for the Symantec Help Article:
Removing your Norton program using SymNRT.

This should take care of it for you.

 

Many people would say that that's a good thing: but if you really want it to run on your PC then you should make sure you COMPLETELY remove any earlier versions by going here: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nav.nsf/docid/2001092114452606
Afterwards you should be able to do a clean install of Norton. Again: if you're really sure that that's what you want.

Norton can be a PITA to reinstall. I just went thru this with 2004 Norton Internet Security and had to do it a second time before it took. In addition to using Symnrt, be sure to delete all other spyware and antivirus programs.
