Unblock blocked ads in Mozilla Firefox

Sighhhh I visit a chat web site that displays some ads that I don't want my kids to see if they happen to walk by me while I am on the computer so I downloaded the extension called Adblock plus for firefox. Well I blocked those ads/images but it also made it so I could not see things that I wanted to be able to see such as smilies, the chat users member level status, etc.. so I removed that sites adblock filter. Decided I don't need Adblock Plus afterall and uninstalled it. Well I still can't view the ads that were blocked on that chat website. Below are the steps that I have taken to correct this problem
1. Uninstalled & Reinstalled Firefox (even deleted the Mozilla Firefox from the program list after uninstallation).
2. Restored computer back to an earlier point in time b4 I used Adblock plus
3. Tried to open the prefs.js to remove the adblock patters but got a pop up error message.

So now what do I do?? I am totally stumped as to how to fix this problem without going to the extreme of having to "dump" my computer.

Firefox comes with a built in pop-up blocker. By default, it blocks all pop-ups (although sites have foudn ways around, but thats another topic).

If you go to tools --> options, on the content tab, there should be a checkbox beside 'Block pop-up windows' you can uncheck that to allow all popups, or you can click the 'Allowed Sites' button beside it to create a whitelist of sites that should be able to send pop-ups.

 

Thanks for the information.. my pop ups were already fine..
After looking I found that in the images there is exceptions and that site was being blocked in that area.
