understanding Geek thinking??

The more I explore the web and fin out a little how it works, the more I wonder about the mechanism that moves the whole thing.

Is helping people fix their bugs as much a bussines as a hobby? I don't know, for example, logs don't need to be huge to look kind of gruesome to me...!
Also, you guys have some kind of organization so that a post doesn't get answered twice at the same time and such?

I'd like to ask quite some more questions but I don't want to be invasive or anything, plus I can't really measure if my English gets somewhat rude or not and I'd rather keep my curiosity within limits.

In case you are wondering, I studied sociology and I'm curious as hell for about anything humanly social. I guess just another kind of geek. In any case, this web seems so particular to me!

Its a hobby to me and the majority of us here in answering PC questions, even tho most of us are in the technology business, we just use some of our knowledge to help others in whatever freetime we have available. With the internet and PC ownership becoming widespread nowadays not everyone wants to become a "geek" and learn everything about the inner workings of a computer or the software run on it, so forums especially like this on in Majorgeeks is geared up for the Novice to Pro, in which we all try and reply in a simple mannor which hopefully is understood my the question asker, if not we can gear it to simple steps without making anyone look a fool, which is why NO question is ridiculed for being simple.

Majorgeeks is a business, but the forum is manned by members like myself, who freely donate time to help others no matter what country, background or knowledge they have.

We all have differening backgrounds so we can cover many issues, which is what a forum should be in a place of sharing.

Yes a question can be answered by multiple people ( apart from Malware, in which a select few have access to post their ) which is good as some questions could have multiple answers or solutions. The main thing thats frowned upon is posting multiple threads in the various forum headings with the same problem/question.

Dont worry about asking questions, fire away and your posts dont seem rude at all.

Being able to help people in any situation gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling inside.......and it keeps me out of the pub!

Ok, that's what I didn't get. You guys really know the matters being treated here and have a lot of fun sharing your knowledge, which helps the business work better but has nothing to do with runing it...

So, are the people in the malware section working or just helping too?

Only the people in the About section take decissions here, right?

And, is there a clear begining to this supportive environment?? Maybe The Two Major Geeks somehow enforced it?
