Undetermined string constant Error in 98se

Here I go again running into issues with outdated software. Here is the issue,when visiting this web site [ msn.com ] I get this box stating " problems with web page may prevent it from being displayed or functioning properly" . I didn't have this problem until I done a reinstall of 98se so after searching the software help here {46 pages worth} I couldn't find any reference to my prob which is why I'm posting. Thank you

 

Did you check or uncheck the preferences you want to configure in internet options/advanced/ ? There're some boxes here that might prevent webpages to load, especially multimedia (sound, animations, visual styles etc..)

Ok I went into internet options and set the defaults which took care of that problem so at this point I have one problem solved. I wonder how it got changed to begin with as I didn't do it and it was a reinstall of the software to begin with? So we can put this in the books as being solved for now and I'll work on the other later cause I have another issue to post about. Thanks for the input.

 

Glad it worked, but you might experience more and more win98 'unfriendly' webpages since lot of objects within (flash, controls, etc) can't be activated with your OS. What about considering upgrading to XP ?

 

I do have xp on another unit that I use, but I cut my teeth on 98 so old habits die hard you know. Besides I like 98 even though it isn't up to standards--gotta remember it was at one time. I just recently started to have problems and I like figuring stuff out if I can before I post anything so its all in good learning fun. Thanks for the advice.
