Explorer says: "unhandled exceptions" and shows a bunch of files, and then when I click on the x to get rid of that box, it evaporates the several windows i was previously using.

    Background:

I just had my computer repaired, and the tech put on explorer 6 on the desk top, and microsoft office 7.

i did a "windows update" to see what critical patches or fixes were needed.

windows update told me to download explorer 8, along with a bunch of "office" stuff..which i eventually did.

meanwhile i used Belarc to see what was inside the rebuilt computer...and it said there were 13 critical or important files missing.

I called MICROSOFT and they were no help at all, he said he'd e mail me a bunch of files, and i should put them on notebook and then transfer them to ??? which i got lost trying to do.....sigh

and there WAS a page that told me to do "this and that" but the instructions were WAY beyond my level of comprehension.

i repeatedly kept on getting the "unhandled exception" message and said they were sorry but they;d have to "close". I copied it to paste here....but it wouldnt paste....another sigh.

what can I do or should i try to do...with this mess !!!! I'm grateful for any advice no matter how small......

I have moved your thread to the software section. You may need to be a bit more specific as to the issues you are having.

If you mean moving your thread...you can't. I moved it because you posted in the welcome center ( and Welcome to MG's!!, by the way) ...most of the members do not look in that forum. So you will get more assistance here. :)

Are you having problems with any other browser such as FireFox?

It sounds like it wasn't properly repaired. Take it back and complain since you should not have 13 critical MS files missing.

I would wait to download IE8, seems to be buggy and causing issues. Stay with IE7 or IE6 which ever youre happy with.
Belarc saying you have missing files is another matter.. talk to the shop that fixed your computer.
