    Please Help,

I am using Windows XP Professional & Hardware Profile is attached.

    Description of problem follows:

Many of my applications can not run. I previously was listed as thread #90708 in the Malware Removal forum, and after removing all threats, they advised me to start a new thread here.

Typically what happens is I try to launch an application such as QuickTime Player and I get:

QuickTime Player has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

When I try to uninstall QuickTime so that I can reinstall it, I get the following error message:
    Unhandled Exception
    Error Number: 0x80040707
Description: DLL function call crashed: QTInstallCode.QuickTimeUnInstallProc
    Setup will now terminate.

This error is followed by the following error message:
The instruction at “0x66834190” referenced memory at “0xffffffff”. The memory could not be “written”. Click on OK to terminate the program

This happens with ITunes. Dell Jukebox by musicmatch doesn’t run. I have seen this same error with Dell Support.

I previously needed to shutdown Windows Defender which had a similar error when working with the Malware Removal forum.

Also when I reboot, I get a message that indicates that Norton Antivirus is not turned on but it should have been.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

    Skier0370

You seem to be missing ddl's ....among other problems ....have you done a repair installation of xp? It will keep all your files and settings (will wipe updates only).
To repair ....boot from cd ...it will look like a new install ....get to agreement page (f8) ...then it will look for previously installed windows ...will find xp and prompt for either choice of repair (R) or new ....choose R.:) :)

(Click to consult the online MSDN article.)
This general indication of a hardware failure is often quite difficult to pin down. Follow usual hardware troubleshooting protocols, in particular: Roll-back any recent hardware or driver changes; ensure that RAM sticks are matched and undamaged; check for viruses or hard drive damage; run ChkDsk to identify file system problems; ensure that all connections are sound inside the computer and all cards well-seated. In tough cases you may need to consult a professional shop for hardware diagnosis and repair.

Good Luck and post back your solution
