I would like to get rid of everything on computer and take it back to its original state so that it runs normally, like when I first got it. What do I need to do? Does this take a long time? Does anyone know of a website that will guide me through the process? Also, I know basically NOTHING about this type of thing regarding computers, so should I maybe not do this myself?
Finally, I lost all the discs that came with the computer (it's a Gateway) so is there somewhere I can download these for free? (I'm assuming there isn't...)

    You guys are so helpful!
    Thanks,
    Amanda

    Hi Amanda :)
Well firstly i may say that without the disks to load it will not be possible to restore xp. I am just presuming you have xp. The only thing you can do providing you have proof of purchase is to contact gateway and explain that you have mislaid the disks and they may provide you with replacements. It is a long shot but with a carefully worded letter may work. Good luck :)

    Best regards
