Uninstall without MSI File

    Season's Greetings to All!

I installed a technical software (VMOD Flex), and the *.msi install file had a Trojan detected by my AVG antivirus. Despite the virus, the software installed. I contacted the company, who sent me a new, clean install *.exe file to correct this. The new install requires an uninstall of the existing program. My attempt, using the Windows 7 normal uninstall program failed, giving a statement that the *.msi file could not be found. I searched the c: drive, and the AVG vault, but cannot find the *.msi file. Is there a way to perform an uninstall without the *.msi file? I assume that must be done to re-install the software using the corrected install *.exe, but I'm open to other alternative approaches. My ultimate goal is to be able to get the new software installed, as I don't know how the virus may have affected operation of this technical software. I'm open to any suggestions and guidance....

Thanks, and a blessed Merry Christmas to everyone!

    Two ways.

One would be to check the folder it installed to and look for a file called unwise or similar. That's the executable to uninstall it.

Silly as it sounds... you could try and reinstall the MSI and then check for an uninstall.

Worst case, remove it from add remove programs when it asks and delete the folder.

Thanks, Major Attitude - much appreciated! I looked through the folder and didn't find the "unwise" or "uninstall" file. I did try the reinstall, but it fails before doing anything because it detects that the software is already installed. I thought about just deleting the entire folder from the C: drive but feared it would have left residual electrons somewhere (registry?) that would still make the reinstall attempt think that it was present. I am going to contact the software manufacturer and see if they can send me the msi file, then I can add it to the software folder and see if that works.
    Merry Christmas!

It will, you can remove registry entries with CCleaner but then again consider that when you install it via MSI that it will return registry entries, file associations, etc so this is one rare case that deleting the folder might just be harmless. You can always restore from recycle bin as well.
