uninstalled nortons

Hi,

I uninstalled nortons yesterday and like a dummy, i paid no attention when it ask me about the stuff in quarentine. I guess i just assumed it would go away. Apparently not, now i cannot get avg to update, and some of my web pages will not pull up. Is there a on line virus scan i can try to perform? Or do you think I should do a roll back?? Grrr i cannot beleive i so dumb lol

A roll back wont help you if you mean System Restore, it only replaces system settings, not programs that were removed or added. You can try an online scan here:

Nortons does not uninstall happily, one of the reasons we dislike it so much here. You may want to reinstall it, then remove it paying more attention to the details. Typically, Nortons wants to uninstall its additional programs first, like live update. Typically after a reboot, a registry cleaner is a good idea to check for traces leftover as well as deleting any directories it may have left behind as well as checking startup items to be sure it is not trying to load anything. Real pain, but hope it helps.

Hey thanks for that tool shadow. I have a work PC that is another victim of Norton. Was looking for some way to get that off of there!

No problem, capn. I've gotten very proficient at removing Norton/Symantec from computers. Every single system when I was in the Army had Symantec AV Corporate on them. Every now and then something would happen that would corrupt the Symantec AV and we would have to remove it. SymNRT and Rnav came in very handy.
