I have searched the threads, but cannot find exactly what i want
OS. Winxp pro. browser is Firefox but also have ie6

Some time ago i uninstalled a couple of programmes using windows add/remove and also cleares registry using reg cleaner
I find thiese two programmes still on my computer, taking up a faiir amount of space, but they are not listed in win add/remove or registry only in the windows xp files and clicking on the icon opens the programme and clicking on delete i get the message that this will only delete the short cut and programme must be deleted from win add/delete
After all that how, can I delete these files permanently.

    Thanks

I'm not sure I understand what you're asking? Are you asking how to delete IE6 from windows XP? If that is the question then the answer is simple. You don't. IE is part of windows. You can't delete it. If you do some really stupid hacks you can make it look like it's gone. Of course then you've got hacked system files and you won't be able to run windows update anymore. So you don't wnat to do that.

If you're asking how to delete firefox, just delete the folder you installed it to if it's not listed in add/remove programs and you'll be fine.

Coco thanks for your prompt reply.
No. I do not want to uninstall my browser, but two programmes, one a spreadsheet programme and one a drawing programme. which I had previously downloaded and uninstalled by means of add/remove and regcleaner, however I find that they are still present on my computer but no longer on the add/remove or the registry,
How can I delete these two programmes
    Thanks

have you tried using "windows explorer" and manually delete them? this has worked for me in the past.

or, do a file search and (carefully read each enty) delete them that way.

Sometimes add/remove or similar programs delete the selected active programs but leave the empty folder, making it look like the program is still there when one does self-searches certain ways. you could check that by finding the folder of the program's name and looking inside it to see whether it contains anything. "Add Remove pro" is said to do a more thorough cleaning job than does Win's own add/remove. you could try this: get Add Remove Pro, reinstall the unwanted programs, them UNinstall them via Add Remove Pro. this has worked for me on some occasions. Add Remove Pro tells you whether it removed all parts or had to leave some for manual removal (but doesn't tell you what it left). btw, if you the typan in australia i know from various chats like paddy's & calm refuge, hi *s*

As a general rule if it's not showing in add/remove programs it's safe to just delete the program folder manually. Of course it would be safe to do that anyways, it's just normally that would leave behind registry entries. Of course if it's not showing on the add/remove program list then that means the registry entries are already gone so deleting the folder and any remaining links to that program would clear it all out just fine.
