During the uninstall process from the control panel, something when wrong and it just stalled. I have tried everything that I know to do and just cannot get the program uninstalled. Is there a safe way to uninstall a program besides the Control Panel? I have never had this problem before. I realize that just deleteing the shortcuts is useless so I hope that someone can help me uninstall this program. Thanks in advance.

When you click the program in the start menu, does it still run? Or do you get a message to the effect of "windows could not find file..."

    1. If it is the later, you probably succeeded in uninstalling the program but it continues to appear in the start list because of a few stray registry entries that have not been removed. To remove them, there are a lot of registry cleaners available, but I like CCleaner:

Once you have installed the program, run it and click "Issues" on the left:

Click scan for issues and then fix all the issues it finds.

    2. If you try to run the Mystery Program (the one you are currently trying to uninstall) and it opens as it normally would, restart the computer in safe mode and try to uninstall it again.

I believe one of these two things should work.

The program is Print Master 12. When I click Start-All Programs, Print Master is listed, but is empty. When I go to My Computer-Cdrive-Program Files,it is not listed. Now, I would think it is gone, but, to check it out, I tried to reinstall Print Master. It says that it has detected another copy of Print Master and that I must uninstall it before I can install this one. When I go to the control panel, it is still there and when I try to uninstall it, it starts and then just quits, leaving the Print Master icon in the control panel. So, I really don't know if it is on the computer or not. Thanks for your help.

    Hi Red...

I'd suggest that you try the freeware utility called Brute Force Uninstaller (BFU) This BFU utility is a great tool for uninstalling programs that are either very hard to remove or seem to uninstall improperly when using either Add/Remove or the uninstall tool that came with the program that you're trying to remove.

    According to the developer:
"BFU is a scripting program that can execute a series of preset commands like a Windows batch file, aimed at uninstalled programs that are hard to remove, uninstall improperly or simply unwanted. Scripts are plaintext and can be written with Notepad, and the command syntax is very transparent. BFU is very complete and powerful, has a small memory footprint and has no uninstaller."

This program is available for download here at Major Geeks (and at the BFU link listed above) and the documentation for the commands are available here as a Word.rtf document.

    Good Luck!

I've had success in reinstalling the program and then uninstalling again.

As a last resort, and I stress last resort, just delete the Program Folder and run CCleaner (see link posted earlier) if all else fails. Bazza

Been wondering about just deleteing the Printmaster folder, but think that I will try the other suggestions first. I use XP and have tried to use at least 4
restore points to go back as far as a week, but none of the restore points work.Any suggestions about this problem? The uninstall of Print Master really did a number on me. Don't think that I will ever use Print Master again if I ever get out of this mess. Thanks for the suggestions.
