I am running Windows Vista Ultimate x64
I discovered that all of my automatic updates were failing. I got the error code 80070490 and found out that my CBS Manifest was either corrupt or missing. It said to try the System Update Readiness Tool for Windows, so off to Microsoft.com I went. Didn't work. The updates still failed. Evidently the only way to fix this problem is to repair windows with my OS Disk. Of course when I tried this, the repair option was grayed out because my system disk came with SP1 and I had already updated to SP2. No problem I thought (foolishly), I'll just uninstall SP2 and complete the repair. No dice. Now it said that it detected that FrontPage Server Extensions (2000) were installed on my machine and they had to be uninstalled before I could repair. Grrrrr. I went to install/uninstall programs but there is nothing there for FrontPage. I contacted Microsoft for help but they just gave me the info I already had and the instructions they gave me to uninstall the server extensions didn't apply to my operating system because as I said, there is no mention of frontpage in my list of programs on my control panel.
So, how do I uninstall the frontpage server extensions 2000 in Windows Vista Ultimate??
Another question.........I have a website hosted with hostmonster and am building it with Concrete5. Do I even need FrontPage Server Extensions? Does it have to be reinstalled for me to access my website???
    Please help.....
    Thank you

Did you upgrade to vista, by any chance? If so, they may have been installed from the previous version.

    Out of curiosity:

Click START, then RUN, then type in: appwiz.cpl (press enter) On the left select "Turn windows features on or off" Click continue for the UAC popup (if it appears).

Do you have "Internet Information Services" checked (or have a blue box instead of a white one?), by any odd chance?

Internet Information Services is not checked (its still a white box). I got the computer (HP Pavilion Slimline) without a HDD. I purchased one online, and then purchased a Vista Ultimate disk and voila! An almost new computer!! :)
I tried the readiness tool again this morning just for S & G, and it still failed.

I am still unable to determine how to uninstall FrontPage Server Extensions 2000. Does anyone else know? Microsoft is of no help........

I resolved the issue, having no other choice but to do a clean install of my operating system. Not what I wanted........but certainly worth the effort. My computer is updating just fine now.
    Thanks for trying!!
    :)
