Unknown Path File

Hey guys

Straight to the point, I have 2 hard drives in my computer, one is the local disk which is has the system stuff on it, and the other which is called family data which is where all the music, work/school stuff, photos etc is stored. every month or so I copy all the files and folders from the family data drive onto a external drive I think its called, I plug it into the USB and copy it over basically so I always have a spare in case the computer or drives go wrong, so I don't lose everything!

basically I tried to copy it over this morning and it does 'some' files, but stops on most of the files saying "Cannot create or replace (insert file/folder name): cannot find the specific file. make sure you specify the correct path and file name".

So please please help! I pretty much have no back up if my computer goes wrong :'(

See if plugging the external drive into another USB port, one in the back of your computer, helps.

I really doubt if this has anything to do with your probem: Are you maybe putting all the files into the ROOT DIRECTORY (Folder) of the drive? Root is limited to a certain number of files and is in a fixed position on the drive. Sub-Directorys are merely Files and are pretty much unlimited. If that's it you can probably create a new Sub-Folder and move the files over. Maybe?
