Unknown Process

    MBA.SYS
    "Seems to be a bandwidth hog, sends out an ungodly amount of data and leaves little to know room for anything to come back in." - Wrigs



    Friend of mine Wrigs is running WinXP SP1 for sure, and has recently had a new process show up. MBA.sys Doing google searches and searching majorgeeks has come up with no hits to show what this might be.

    When he shuts down the process it does not come back until he reboots.


    If anyone has seen this or knows of a fix, please respond.

    Do a search on the file.

    Right click it, properties.

    Get the info from the version tab.

    If there is none, I would scan for viruses and spyware.

    Please enough with the registry cleaner comments. Your suggestions are not going to help anyone. Registry cleaners are not necessarily tools that average users can deal with. They do not find spyware problems for you. You must know what you are looking for and you better know your way around the registry and you should perform a registry backup before doing any manual registry editing. Your suggestions may be well intended but the are incomplete and non-specific.

    Adrynalyne is correct. Hopefully he has a virus scan application installed.

    You may also want to work thru this all the steps in this Sticky thread < READ ME FIRST: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal > If you already have any of the programs linked in the tutorial please double check your version to make sure you have the latest one and that you have any/all updates for the programs.

    NOTE: In order to resolve the issues you are having it is very important that you at least try to perform all the steps as outlined. If you have any difficulty please post back letting us know what steps you have completed, what you found while doing the scans if anything and details about any problems you have encountered in completing the steps. The more details you can provide the better.
