Anyone? I am trying to unlock cores on a computer I built for a friend of mine and am having some trouble. I have a Phenom II x2 550 Callisto on a MSI 785GTM-E45 board. I have the latest BIOS. What I've done so far is enable EC Firmware, change the Advanced Clock Calibration to AUTO, (also -2%, 0%), bumped up the CPU voltage to 1.4 and NB voltage to 1.35. The BIOS acknowledges that there are four cores (advanced calibration per core adj.), but after booting into windows, CPUID and my desktop gadget only show two. Anyone know what I am doing wrong/right? Suggestions?

    Bueller?

    Bueller?

Anyone even heard of this? I still consider myself a little green, but I can't be the only one who has ever tried anything like this in this forum, can I?

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

You will need a motherboard that supports ACC. As far as I know ACC is the only way to unlock masked cores. Apparently the MSI 785GTM-E45 has ACC. It should be fairly easy to find and enable in the bios. Here is a good read that might help you out. ;)

ACE, Thanks. This was the type of info i needed. Guess I didn't dig enough on my own. I kinda suspected that it might not be possible on all chips. Maybe I got a difficult one. Anyway, I left my buddy with a healthy yet stable OC on the intended two cores. Thanks for the lead.

trying to do the same thing with a biostar gf8200 board.

does anyone kno how to unlock the 2 additional cores in the x2 550 Phenom2 on this board.

I know how to pretty much unlock the cores using a gigabyte board, i heard rumours that you can't unlock the cores on a board that supports nvidia. Is that true?

i really want to unlock the other 2 cores, i have already updated the bios and the option to unlock it still isn't there (i think)

By the way i saw that you can unlock the cores on a board that supports SB750 southbridge, does the gf8200 have that?
