I have HDCleaner and a couple of days ago i tried wiping the free space on the HD i didn't get finished and had to restart. Tonight when i opened it up it said i had some files that should be deleted. I used to have around 2 GB used and after i hit yes it went up to 16 GB used. I look for the folders listed and they are empty but am still getting 16 GB used. I looked in Defrag, and showed that the clusters have data that cannot be moved. by the way i have a 37 GB hard Drive

Do you have Norton Systemworks? Specifically, Norton Protected Recycle Bin?

Check the size of your paging file. Right-click My Computer, and choose Properties, Advanced tab. Click (I believe) Performance Options, and look at the "total paging file size". Is it really big, like 13 GB?

Ah. Then check your Virtual Memory settings. 13GB is very excessive, but I've seen some Win9x setups actually consume the entire HDD -- generally because the system RAM is low (below 128).

I have 640 MB RAM. my virtual memory is set at to let windows manage virtual memory. I went to my computer and the click properties on the HDD. it said that the used space was around 16 GB but when i click on the C: and highlight all that is there and click properties it says that there is almost only 2 GB disk space used.

ok i ran ScanDisk and if found the lost file fragments of something like 2 GB, 4 GB, 4 GB, and 4 GB so i deleted them and the unmovable data is now gone. The problem is solved.
