My Windows 98 system has started getting a little unstable and occasionally closing down. Windows Media Player also only plays in Safe Mode.
An AVG (free) scan reveals no viruses, but does say:

    Partition table...............reading error
Boot sector of disc .......reading error
    Kernel 32 DLL.....change
    User 32 DLL.......change
    Shell 32 DLL.......change

Can anyone throw some light on what this means?

According to what its stating it sounds like for Partition for Windows is slightly corrupeted and AVG is unable to fix it.
