This question has to do with a website that my son-in-law has posted. He put this website up to inform his friends and family about his progress in his cancer treatment so that he wouldn't have to constantly repeat the same thing over and over to everybody. He put a link to a guestbook where his friends and family members can leave messages for him and send their thoughts. After a week or two these messages started popping in that just say "Hello, best site". He would remove these messages and block the IP address, but then the next day would be three more. Sometimes there is a link to this persons web page. Is there anything that can be done to prevent these type of messages from showing up or to report them? I think my son-in-law used a yahoo service to build his web site.

If it is showing on his site, the only explanation is that somehow the code to pop those messages up is embedded in his html. He would need to find that code and delete it.

This is assuming that whatever he sued to build the site did not embed the ads as part of the license agreement to use their software.

It isn't a pop-up ad that shows up. It is just part of a message that anyone could put in signing his guestbook. When you choose to sign his guest book you are given the options to leave your user name, e-mail address, aim screen name, icq screen name, web site address, etc. It is probably a default set-up to use. I suggested to my son-in-law to remove the web site and screen name input windows if he can. Sometimes he's not able to update the site for a few days so when you check his guest book, there will be three or four entries in a row from this "Hello, best site" person, then some legitimate entries and then three or four more of the other again. It's just very annoying to have to deal with this stupidity when you're already dealing with other problems. Some people just don't have any respect for others. I would put the address to the site here for you to check out, but I know that would just lead to more of the same thing since anybody can read this post.
