When I update a list of club money I collect, I enter the date then press the tab. The cursor flies to the decimal tab set on the RH side, leaving a dotted trail. Some months ago now this date starting showing & I cannot stop it! Can anyone help? I type "14th September 2010" and when I tab I get "-09-14" added in, (backwards-style American date) which I have to delete with the backspace before I can continue. The date I enter is only occasionally the current date.

I'll guess you are using a Word version prior to 2007. If that's correct then from the menu bar select Insert > Autotext and in the flyout click Autotext. At the top is a checkbox for Show Autocomplete suggestions.

You are quite correct, Earthling! It is in Office 2000.

Have done as you suggest, and it is 100% successful.

    I'm very grateful to you
