Why after burning a data dvd do i get a thumbs.dbf appearing occasionally in some folders?
It is not in the original folder selected for burning.

I have hidden files set to be visible, but cannot see these dbf files in original folders prior to burning or afterwards?!?!
I don't understand your logic, as I am most likely to have the same setings for viewing both, i.e. original folder and folder in DVD, it makes your response null and void!!!!!! Know what I mean?

Do you use thumbnail or filmstrip view for you dvd? Thumbs.db is a cache sort of thing that stores all the thumbnail pictures of your icons.

Just using "details" option for viewing of folders in windows explorer, for the dvd and windows folders....CONFUSED.
Kestrel13! - thanks for your contribution, as you can see above this problem is a little strange, well to me anyway!

Well, I wouldn't worry about it. They don't take up much room anyways.

EEEEDIOT has it right here. thumbs.db is a DataBase of thumbnails for a folder. You can delete it, but if you switch to thumbnails view, it will be automatically recreated by Windows.

You can watch it remake itself:

    1. Open any folder
    2. Switch to 'Thumbnails' view
    3. Delete thumbs.db
    4. Switch to another folder
    5. Switch back to the original folder

Your files should show a icon for their filetype, until the thumbnail is recreated and the icon changes to a preview.

How solve and get rid of thumbs.db???
So why has it just occurred, as I have been burning data dvds for a few years using Nero in XP?
Is it because I may have viewed that specific folder using the thumbnail option?
