Unwired laptop has internet connection via router, but wired pc doesn't.

    Hello,
    This has suddenly become a problem. Had been working fine initially..........When my router is hooked up, I have an internet connection on my wireless laptop, but then the internet connection on my wired pc is gone. I only get the internet connection back on the pc after disconnecting the router.

    Any ideas where I should look at this point?
    I'm running WinXP Pro, Comcast internet service, and the router is a Belkin G+ Mimo.

    Try this on the wired pc when it loses the connection
    a) Click on Programs /Accessories then Cmd Prompt
    b) First type in ipconfig /release and press enter
    c) Next type in ipconfig /renew and press enter
    Note you must put a space between the word ipconfig and the / sign
    You should now get a readout with the IP for the computer.

    wired adapter may also be static coded. go into tcp/ip and make sure that it is not manually typed in IP address
