Hey guys! I'm a huge movie fanatic, and I don't see any threads here about entertainment in general, so I thought I'd start one!

I just saw Iron Man last week (SO GOOD), and I saw Prince Caspian last night at an advance screening, and it was surprisingly fantastic. I can post my take on the movie if anyone's interested in hearing about it before it actually comes out, but don't want to spam it if no one cares. ;)

I'm heading to see Speed Racer tonight, but it feels like a filler outing... Is anyone besides me all but dying waiting for The Dark Knight to come out?

Welcome to M.G.'s I see you've made yourself at home already, so all's good.:)

Iron Man was pretty cool, (I always wanted to get me some of those wrist mounted Repulsor Rays, lol!). Just watched Indy Jones and the Last Crusade on the T.V. tonight, (for the umpteenth time, eh).

We have movie/DVD threads here fairly regularly, so you won't miss out on much.;)

I just saw the previews for You Don't Mess with the Zohan with Adam Sandler, and it looks really good.. I don't have cable or satellite, so all I watch is movies, and I watch most of them on DVD... I love a good movie though, good thread!

Thanks for the welcome, Phantom! Yeah, I really need to rewatch the original Indy trilogy... I'm pretty underwhelmed by the trailers for Crystal Skull, but part of me hopes/suspects it might be a case of bad trailer-making. Hard to say if it's because the movie will be bad... I'm hopeful, though! I'm certainly gonna go see it. It's Harrison Ford, if nothing else.

I know it's little old about 2-3 months, but Cloverfield ,is my favorite movie. Why? Martin Scorsese did a great job finding a new way of making films with simple camera.I'm a big(HUGE) fan of sci-fi genre, so this one was very refreshing to see.(To see the movie from our perspective, not the classic way)

I Loved Iron Man. I want to see Prince Caspian, so I'm glad to hear it's good. I also want to see Speed Racer, so I'll be interested to hear what you think. :)

I am not looking forward to Dark Knight, in fact I'm kind of wondering why they are doing yet another remake. LOL

I am totally looking forward to the Sex and the City.

And I love Will Smith so I wanna see Hancock. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0448157/

I tells ya, they want to forget the previous series was ever made, and erase the damage Joel Schumacher did. :-D

(It makes sense, Batman Begins was a prequel to any of the movies that were released, so its sequels would overlap what was already done)

I'm all for making the dark night DARK, as opposed to a friggen neon light carnival like these:

Um, 'scuse me mada, but I Loved Robin in all his orange dayglow glory. I even had a crush on him.

k...I can't even type that with a straight face. LOL

So...the last movie...Batman Begins... Is that by the same person who is doing The Dark Knight? I thought that was pretty dark.

I was in Australia when all the marketing and buzz about Cloverfield was happening back in the U.S., and by the time I got back it was all over with... so I hadn't even heard of it. But I've seen more than one person talking or raving about it now that I'm back, so I may just have to check it out.

Yeah, Christopher Nolan is doing Dark Knight, and he's the guy who did Batman Begins. He's signed on to do three Batman films, so there will probably be a Two-Face-centric film after Dark Knight, which focuses mostly on the Joker.

I personally really like the darkness/grittiness of Batman Begins, and what I've seen so far in trailers for Dark Knight. I think it really suits the spirit of the character, and the comics, and it makes for enjoyable movies. Batman is, after all, the dark knight. ;)

Well, from what I've seen of trailers this past decade or more, is that the 'best' parts of the movie are chosen for the trailers, at least in their eyes, to sell the product. I wait for the opinions of movie buffs before I plunk down any cash.

I've grown pretty jaded over the years when it comes to the opinions of critics and movie buffs, both professional and non. They hated Speed Racer, and I loved it beyond love. Critics are giving Narnia pretty mixed and poor reviews, whereas I thought it was fantastic. I tend to judge if I want to see a movie based on my own opinions from reading articles and watching trailers and looking at movie stills -- and, of course, my friends' opinions.

Mada_Milty: What's your opinion on Tim Burton's take on the Batman movies?

I like them MUCH more than Schumacher's work, but not so much that it would pain me to see the plot redone. Especially by someone like Nolan. I like how he tries to keep CGI to a minimum, and a lot of shots are done with handicam. Gives the movies a pretty gritty feel that even Burton didn't have.

:-D I also think Batman returns had THE BEST merchandise, FWIW

I agree, more or less. I really like Burton's Batman (particularly Batman Returns). But I don't think he's done a better job than Nolan... I think they're movies out of two different times, for two different audiences. The genre of comic book/superhero movie is different now than it was nearly twenty years ago, definitely.

It does hurt, it huuuuurts. I can't wait any longer. Did you see that auction for tickets to the premiere and after party? It's already up to $8,500. :cry Why aren't I rich?
