update causes mic and other computer problems

firstly, everest wasn't able to tell me all the information i needed because windows vista said it didn't have a valid signature or something of the sort. so i will try to do my best in providing the system information.
my motherboard is a foxconn a7gm-s supported by amd/amd+2 i believe. i also have a amd dual core processor at 2.7ghz. the sound and network are built in, and i have a gforce 9500 gt video card. in addition i am running windows vista ultimate.

i have a request into foxconn although their support is all online and not yet yielded any assistance. i also posted one topic in software since i thought it was windows problem possibly, but since all errors speak of a audio driver issue i imagine it is either drivers or bios(and i dont know were to post a bios problem).

what i was doing before these problems was, i was informed that my bios was out of date by a program called live update from foxconn. so i downloaded and installed the updates. however after the last update was done, i lost use of my microphone. which i had noticed after trying to use both team speak and windows speech recognition. after trying a few things i opted to use system restore for a point just the day before. after letting that run i was left with a computer that would do nothing but restart after reaching the point just before the desktop. in addition, safe mode wouldn't even start at well and also only resulted in a restart. my computer wouldn't even stop restarting after i turned the option of restart after system failure off.

so basically i am left with a computer that will only work after i select the use last known good settings from the advanced safe mode options. after that all things appear fine except for the sound driver, which still plays audio but will not work in any way as to recording sound.

once again i apologize if this is a problem for another area, but if it is simply relevant to bios issues than i dont know were to post it. was hoping to be directed in the least.

may have fixed the problem, i hope. because foxconn and microsoft are useless.
