Update computer

Hi,

Somewhere on this site I once saw and now cannot find a thread or post on how to update an older computer to make it run faster, etc. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thank you.

 

It really depends on what is meant by "old computer".

Thank you. I will try to do that this weekend but I was looking for an already posted document, something like the "Read this first" in Malware. It gave some general tips for improving performance, etc. I know I saw it but now of course I can't find it.

In addition to the mekanic's advice, please add what you want to use the PC for - basic stuff like e-mail and YouTube or more advanced things like gaming and video editing.

This information will help determine what upgrades are needed or if it's better off just to invest in a new PC.

 

Thank you for your reply but I'm definitely not interested in a new computer and I won't be adding any upgrades to this one - I really only want to find the post on how to improve your old computer's performance so I can work thru it at my leisure. Thanks again.
