Update does not install

    Vista Home Basic.

    It downloads but when it comes to installing it, it gets about half way (if the installation status bar is a good indicator) and then fails.

    I've tried it numerous times.

    that particular update is for pc's using more then 3 gigs of ram. I think youll find that if you look up that update in programs and accesories youll find its already installed from oem. Mine did that and I went in removed the already installed update and then let the update reinstall/

    Ok, it's fixed thanks.

    One question about it though. Is it meant to make my full 4GBs usable?

    not in 32 bit . It shows 4 gig minus whatever you have on the video card because it can only see 4 gig total on system. so say video card is 512m ram ram will show up as 3.5 gig
