Update gone wrong?

I logged onto the computer and it gave me an update right now of .net? lol one I've had anyways! I do the normal update and it shows this. click at bottom image to view and open it ty. It gave me option of 1 pressing okay to terminate... and close/exit to repair. I did repair.. and it came up with another problem talking about some bugger tried to open but couldn't anyways it finally updated saying(not all things were updated).? help thanks fixing it!

 

lol sorry my eyes are getting bad enough that even zoomed in I can not read the error.... guess I got to get a bigger screen. Rough getting old.

I tried going to the site in IE and attempted to install it for windows xp and it gave me same error. Said only some updates were updated.. It popped up window I click cancel then cancel again to try to repair/patch and nothing..

if these are windows updates have you tried going into the windows-software distribution-downloads folder and delete everything in that folder,then try and download them again.

 

Hm no. I was wondering since this is a .net and I already had it on the computer. I was wondering why I couldn't just uninstall it then re install it :confused

 

i had a problem with .net a while back with the 3.5 update the only solution was to completely uninstall .net and start from scratch.

 

But in the add/remove theres many things that have something in its names that looks like it could be involve with .net so I was just wondering what to get rid of and re install?

the only .net version you have is 1.1 if you have a xp installation disk there should be a .net framework installation on that so you could try and uninstall version 1.1 from add and remove then clean up with ccleaner then reinstall 1.1 from your disk.don't forget to do as i suggested and delete everything in the software distributation download folder as the auto updates from ms are stored in there and if the 1.1sp1 file in there is corrupt it wont re-download a fresh copy.

 

I tried to uninstall it and it gave me internal error 2711. S867460

Edit - just to let you know I don't have any disk for future of this working out.

 

ok first download and try this clean up utility from M.S " http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...33-0343-4EE4-B0C4-97BD16967A09&displaylang=en " run the tool as per instructions at this site.
then download and run the .netfix installer " http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...E3-F589-4842-8157-034D1E7CF3A3&displaylang=en ". it will install version 1.1 on your computer and with auto updates on should do the rest,good luck.

I went to the site and I downloaded all of them. Last download popped up a black screen for .5 seconds then left. Still unable to uninstall. I went to the site and read around for computer stuff for windows xp and no preveal. I looked for those kbs# and didn't see what matched to mine. I got a windows xp home edition.. dell computer.

 

hmmm lets try using this .net uninstaller from MG'S " http://majorgeeks.com/.NET_Framework_Cleanup_Tool_d6179.html ".
if this doesn't work you can try to repair your current version lets see how you go.

 

Downloaded it to destop. Open it up made sure it was for all .net versions, click clean up(same error as before). Heres the full story of what I happen. Few days ago I got an update available from microsoft. I download it its .net framework 1.1(even tho i already had it). But anyways I updrade it. It then gives me a box saying"SL42.temp common language runtime debugging services. Application has generated an exception that could not be handled. Process id=Oxf28 (3880), thread id=Ox734 (1844). Click okay to terminate the applicatoin or cancel to debug the application. I click cancel. It then installs the update, then when done it says updated completely but not all of it was update. SO I later on go to uninstall it to download it later on. When I go to uninstall it in add/remove I get (internal error 2711. S867460) I click okay then it pops up saying error box and closes. Id like to uninstall this program from computer and install another .net maybe. I have windows xp home edition sp3 on a dell computer dimension 4700.

 

ok what you might give a try is download if you haven't already the .netfix installer from post 12 and do a repair install on your version 1.1,the update you received was .net v1.1 sp1.once you have run a repair try and up date to .net 2.0.since with some programs you need .net framework installed eg: windows live messenger you should try and install all the up dates for .net thats right up to .net3.5.
