Today - after downloading all 57 updates the initialization process started and sometime during the second initialization the computer turned itself off. There was no power loss, etc. Now the computer won't turn on completely; it only blinks and clicks.
    Tomorrow - ?

Welcome to Major Geeks Brianx13, you will find with time that when you ask a question here at MG that you have to add as much information as possible in as short and as concise a manner as possible. Otherwise your good question will be lost in the MG abyss.

Please tell us what program you were updating, did your computer shut-down Online, if you can tell us more about the sounds your computer makes.

Given there isn't to much to go on yet, I would venture that it might be either a failing PSU, Ram Fault, or an HD crash, I base this solely on the fact that apparently during a normal download it crashed, but further facts could prove those ideas way off base.

So please post back some further details if you can, and again Welcome to Major Geeks

    Hi BC,
Thanks for the tips. Here is a little more information:
I wasn't updating a particular program; since it was the Microsoft website itself I believe MS had picked 57 updates I needed (Service Pack, Security updates, etc.) and had downloaded them already. It was during the initialization process (what that is I don't rightly know yet) that the computer simply shutdown and will not turn back on completely. The computer was still online but I don't think it was transferring to or from. It turns on, but the computer simply clicks and the light blinks - that's it.
I have tried a few things since this has happened:
    1) Installed a different PSU - not the culprit
    2) Taken the hard drive out and installed in another computer as a slave; all documents still there
    3) Installed the hard drive in another computer as a master - will not boot, but the brand, motherboard, etc. is different.
    4) Transferred all personal documents, etc. off the first drive to another drive so there is no worry about frying something and losing something in case anyone has any risky solutions to suggest.

Looking forward to any help you folks may have.

    Thanks in advance.

Service Pack2 is a monster file and even on DSL can take well over an hour to down load, and some have found that if they only complete part of the download/install process, their computer crash's. So you might have to reformat the drive in question, and reinstall your original Windows and then download SP2 again, if that is what you were doing. Your #2 & #3 would suggest a corrupted OS (Which fits the above) or fault RAM (if you have two sticks of RAM try removing one at a time, this will eliminate RAM). Hope that helps, and post back on how the "Battle" goes
