Update on my friend, Jacky.

It seems the updates coming through from my previous work are positive and a lot more informative now the previous Director has retired and a new one taken over.

Since her accident, Jacky has now been moved out of Intensive Care to the High Dependency Unit. She is geeting feelings in both her legs, one of which was broken (something we never previously knew). Her trachiotomy has been removed (something else we didn't previously know she had) so she can talk a little better now, and she will have to wear her "halo" for at least another 4 weeks (something else we didn't previously know she had) while her neck heals. Her back continues to be a concern (whatever the implications of those words mean). They wuill be moving her to the Spinal Unit in Salisbury when they are able to move her.

She's asked for her nails to be done and her hair washed! That's the sign of great progress to me. Please keep her in your prayers and thoughts - she has come a long way already, but there is still a long way to go.

Major trauma, long recovery, but sounds like it's going really well. Feeling in her legs is great; implies the spinal cord is still there. Hair & nails request implies both that she's aware enough of herself to notice, and has enough spirit to care. Or maybe that just means she's a woman.

Glad things are improving for Jacky, Lev, albeit, slowly. Prayers and good thoughts continue for her. Thanks for the update, Lev.

 

Thanks for the update Lev. Some positive things going on, so that is good. As was said, probably long, slow healing, but things look good right now.
Still in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks for the good news, hope Jacky will come out as good as new in no time and my prayers are with her.

 

My brother had a broken neck, he recovered pretty well. Sounds like Jacky will too. My bro continued taking martial arts, which concerned his docs a bit. Seems he had the equivalent of a dotted line on his neck that only required a light tap. Once the back is injured, it is a long haul, but the critical parts are serviving it.

When I refer to my bro in the past tense, he died in an unrelated accident 5 years later.
